paumier

paumier (say poh-mee-ay) comes from jeu de paume, the game of the palm. before there was tennis, players in france hit the ball with a bare hand, and by the end of the thirteenth century with a leather glove to protect the palm; the first racket is recorded in 1505.

the people who kept the courts and made the rackets were called paumiers, and we borrowed their name for our gloves.

we make gloves by hand in the uk, in nappa leather, suede and calf hair, for the darkest part of the year: one bright thing against black coats and grey streets. every style comes in size 7, in small runs of each colour.

every order ships tracked from the uk (in-stock pairs the next business day, late-shipping styles 14 days after you order), delivery is free to the uk and eu (£15 to the rest of the world), and you can return your order within 14 days of delivery.

how it works

  2. we reply within one business day with where to send the gloves.
  3. send them back by a tracked service and keep your proof of postage. return postage is paid by you unless the pair is faulty, in which case we send you a prepaid label.
  4. we refund your original payment method within 14 days of the pair arriving back, or of you sending us proof of postage if that comes first.

gift orders are refunded to the person who paid for them.

how long do i have to return my gloves?

any order can be returned within 14 days of delivery, for any reason. try your gloves on as you would in a shop, because we can reduce a refund for a pair that's been worn beyond that. for christmas, orders placed between 1 nov and 24 dec can be returned until fri 15 jan 2027.
